Russian Watch of the Day showcases Russian watches that have caught our attention because of their style, value, function or uniqueness.
Moscow Classic may be a relative newcomer to the Russian watch making industry but the brand is known worldwide for producing some of the best Russian watches today. Moscow Classic’s Vodolaz 3602/00611020 is no exception, as it is perhaps one of the best-looking watches in the Vodolaz line. The watch features a 316L grade stainless steel case with a screw-in back cover engraved with its serial number. Its black leather straps with contrasting white top stitching adds a touch of ruggedness to its sleek case and solid black dial.
A lot can be said about the features of the Vodolaz 3602/00611020 but what really makes it special is the movement it uses. The watch uses a Russian Molnija 3602 pocket watch movement. The Molnija watch factory dates back to 1947 and is best known for their handcrafted pocket watches. The company, however, ceased production in 2007. Moscow classic watches are the only ones to still feature the Molnija watch movement and the Vodolaz 3602/00611020 is one of the few ones left using the 3602 pocket watch movement.
The Vodolaz 3602/00611020 features a mineral glass crystal and SuperLuminova fillings on the dial and hands for luminosity. It has a water resistance depth rating of 10 ATM or 100 meters. The watch sells for $329 and considering it’s limited edition, I’d say that’s a pretty good price for a timepiece that uses the historic Russian Molnija pocket watch movement.
