Russian Watch of the Day showcases Russian watches that have caught our attention because of their style, value, function or uniqueness.
The Russian watch industry is perhaps best known for manufacturing the best military aviation watches in the world, as the government wanted to provide high-quality timepieces for its military. While the original military aviation watches were not sold commercially, the famous watch brand Aviator, which is part of the Volmax company, made such watches available to consumers. While Aviator has had many collections throughout the years, each one surpassing the last in terms of quality and aesthetic appeal, nothing still quite beats the Aviator Classic collection. One watch model in the collection that stands out in particular is the Aviator Classic 31681/6775778-42 or 6775778B. This classic Russian chronograph comes with either a leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet.
This classic chronograph watch by Aviator uses the mechanical 31681 Russian Poljot movement with 25 jewels. The case is made of pure stainless steel and measures 42 mm in diameter, so it’s a fairly large watch but not as large as some men’s watches. This Aviator Classic employs a very minimalist, military-style design, with its gunmetal grey dial and white markings and handsets. It also features three sub-dials; a seconds counter, minute counter, and the chronograph function with summing up action. The watch also features a date calendar at 6′oclock and uses sapphire glass crystal. It has a water resistance depth of 30 meters for the leather variety and 100 meters for the stainless steel variety so it’s not a watch designed for underwater activities but with its classic design, it makes for a great everyday watch.
The watch’s caseback is also made of high-grade stainless steel and features an etched image of the Aviator logo. The straps are made of genuine leather with white top-stitching details but you can also find a stainless steelĀ version with a silver bracelet. This Aviator Classic watch retails for $649 and is limited edition.
